Waynesboro Fish and Game will be holding a Defensive Shotgun Match on Saturday, May 20th.
Registration will open at 8:00 am and we will have a Safety Brief at 9:00 am and start shooting immediately after.
Here is a chance to test out your home-defense shotgun; and your shooting and reloading skills in a match environment. We are keeping the round count to below 50 rounds, with the addition of up to 5 slugs. Targets and distances will be set for use of standard 12-gauge, lead, Field and Game loads. Slug targets will be at 50 yards. No steel shot or buckshot is allowed. As always round count depends on how well you shoot, therefore bring extra ammo to compensate for misses.
The format will be similar to past pistol and rifle matches, with four to five stages covering various shooting positions and targets, and some movement. Expect run-dry stages, slug transition and quick reloads. We will be using some of the favorite targets, barriers and props and will introduce a few new targets. We will use our usual time based scoring method with three divisions :
Hunter (5-round and under capacity)
Tactical (8-round and under) and
Open ( competition and detachable magazine shotguns)
Match fees will be $20.00 for members and $25.00 for nonmembers, all divisions. An optional 50/50 will be held at the end, with a slug shot on paper silhouette.
Please pre-register by responding to the following email: email@example.com. This will help things run smoother during registration and give us some idea of how many shooters to expect.
