2-Gun Match

The planned round count will be < 60 rounds of rifle and about 50 rounds of pistol.  We try to plan the round count this way so that you can shoot the match with 3 boxes of rifle ammo and 1 box of pistol but it’s always smart to bring extra rounds to cover misses.  The scoring will be recorded by straight time plus added time penalties for missed targets, failure to engage a target and hits on no-shoot targets. As usual we’ll have 3 divisions – Vintage Bolt, Vintage Semi and Open. There will be a quick gear inspection during registration to ensure everyone has safe and appropriate gear. Positive handgun retention is critical as we’ll be moving and shooting from unusual positions. No inside the waistband holsters will be allowed due to the need to re-holster during some stages of fire.  Our 2-Gun matches are designed to be dynamic events and focus on practical shooting skills, giving shooters an opportunity to evaluate their gear and their firearms in a practical field-oriented environment. In keeping with that objective, we’ll shoot rain or shine, the only weather that will cause the match to be canceled or delayed is surface ice (winter 2-gun) or lightning. We also make every effort to accommodate any interested shooter but as mentioned above, it does require a certain amount of physical exertion, solid knowledge of firearms safety and familiarity with your firearms.  Please make sure you’re safe and comfortable in that environment.  Registration will open at 08:00 on the rifle range and the safety brief will kick off at 09:00.  Match fees are $25 for members and $30 for non-members.  Feel free to send any questions to wfgmatches@gmail.com, I’ll do my best to answer them asap.  I hope to see all of you on the 21st.
